Day One, Post-Op

Here it is. I said I was going to be up front and honest throughout my journey. This is what day one, post prophylactic bilateral mastectomy looks like. There are expanders under my skin, but they weren't filled up very much. I'll have a fill in about a week after my drains come out. It doesn't look the best, but, it's kind of like the story of the Ugly Duckling. At first it looks pretty gruesome, but as the expanders get filled, it starts to look more human as opposed to "frankenboobs". Hopefully these images do not offend you, but this is REAL. This is my life. Raw, and truthful.

I am okay. I am more than okay. I was given an amazing chance by having this surgery. I am stoping the cycle of breast cancer in my family. I am living..for my children, my husband, my family, myself.
